Married to a Preacher? Whoa!
The first of many of our big events and changes that I talked about in the last post happened just this weekend. I am praising God for the wonderful Husband He has blessed me with. What a leader I have! What a blessing to have a Husband who has dedicated his life to following God, and not just "accepting Him into his life" dedicated, but this weekend he stepped into what God has called him to do.
I fell in love with my Husband not only because he's funny and too cute to be true, but because of his crazy love for his Father. When I went to visit Applied Life Christian College, his personality caught me right away and I couldn't wait to be his friend. It didn't take long for either of us to realize that we wanted to be with each other forever and ever! I watched him at Morning Prayer every morning during our time at ALCC and saw him interacting with our God and I watched him grow into a precious man of God through several difficult trials while in school.
Soon after graduating we were engaged and married, and it wasn't until then that I (for the first time) heard and realized what a wonderful teacher that he is! He loves studying the Word, and he loves sharing it with others. He is so passionate about seeing others lives changed. Bryan has a deep love for God and people. I think my Husband is the best preacher, but that's just my unbiased opinion. ;) So when he came to me and told me that he believed that God had called him to be ordained, I had no doubt that he would be perfect for it! The "doubts" that I had were more for me.
We've been working in the Ministry for two years now, and let me just say, it's not the easiest job in the world. These have probably been some of the toughest two years of our lives. Okay, lets not sugar-coat this, they have the toughest two years of our lives. So logically, when your Husband comes to you and tells you that he believes that God has permanently called him (which obviously means us) into the ministry, it can be a rather frightening feeling.
Well I am here to tell you that this Minister's Conference this weekend has changed my world! It's very comforting to know that we're not the only ones that have ever felt this way, and that there are ways to get through the tough times, thanks to our God! And watching my Husband's passion for this be birthed this weekend has made me the most PROUD wife on this planet! As we sat through class after class this weekend, being filled with the Word and wisdom from our mentors and friends, I couldn't help but praise God for His faithfulness to take care of our needs. He knew this weekend would be perfect for us, and He is so proud of my Husband! Standing up there next to Bryan as he made his vows and commitments to the Lord, I guess I could say, empowered me! I could not feel more blessed!
So as this proud weekend of "church camp for grown-ups" comes to an end, and we head back to reality, I am excited for what God has ahead of us. I'm excited for what we have left to do in Barksdale and what we have to start in Colorado! I am excited to become a different person, and a better wife for my Godly Husband. Bryan has had a pill (me) to deal with! ;)
And again I say, "PRAISE GOD for the leader He blessed me with!" Our God is faithful and we are BLESSED!
